We had a great time last weekend at camp. The charity we were supporting was SIDS and we wore red all weekend. The decorations were red and Saturday night we wore a red decorated mask. There was a lot of scrapping and cardmaking going on plus lots of fun.

Here are the 2 layouts for the crop in August. One is a boy theme and the other a girl theme.

I didn't have family portraits so used grandchildren instead. You can choose which one/ones you want to do.

All the left overs can make a few other pages plus a Father's day card that we will be doing on the night/day.

When I had my grandchildren for the weekend we did a photo shoot. They chose the areas and how they were to pose. I took heaps of great photos and wanted to print off most of them. Too many photos for a scrapbook page and album. So I made a mini album with a chipboard mini album that Cropworks sells. I put cardstock pages between the chipboard pages to make it a thicker book to hold more photos.

I used Basic Grey Granola mainly throughout the album. I used patterned paper and the die cuts and stickers from Basic Grey. The album, rings and white cardstock are from SALT.

Sew-easy Tool and Water Distressed Flower

Here is another layout I did using the sew-easy tool. I used a plate that I sat on the cardstock and only used the plate as a guide. I ran the edge of the tool around the circumference of the plate. Then I did running stitch through the holes.

Once again you can see my water-distressed flower on the layout.

The paper is Basic Grey, The pearls are Kaisercraft, the leaves and the small flowers are Bo Bunny stamps and the ink is Tim Holtz Distress Inks. The brads are SALT. All these products can be bought from Cropworks.

Easy-Sew Tool Layout

If you are not into sewing then you don't have to use this tool with needle and thread. I ran the tool along a piece of cardstock on the backside and then used Tim Holtz Distress Ink to highlight the raised parts of the pattern on the right side. I then used Chrystallina Kindy Glitz to add a bit of bling to the inked edge.

There is that water-distressed flower again in blue. You will see a lot of these featuring in layouts and cards. I went mad with them and have done several lessons for groups using the technique.

Sew-Easy Tool

I have used the head that comes with the tool to do the stems of the flowers. I have used 6 strands of embroidery floss to do BACKSTITCH. I do the piercing on the back of the patterned paper because I think it gives a deeper pierce.

The flowers are made using SALT cardstock which is a nice thickness to make these flowers. Here is the link on Rose-Anne's blog to show you how to make them. Water Paint Distressed Flowers

It was purple!!

I went to Cropworks retreat a couple of weekends ago. It was fantastic, everyone had a good time and the food was 5 star restaurant standard. If you can only attend 1 or 2 scrapping/stamping retreat a year you need to make sure it's run by Cropworks. It was held at Long Point, NSW Australia.

As we arrived we were given a 'show bag' fully of goodies and asked if we wanted to have a try at the challenge. We could choose from 3 different colours and we received the one of our choice FREE. I decided to take the purple pack. The challenge was to use everything in the pack as least once and we couldn't add anything from our stash. We could however, add colour and glitz by using ink, paint, dimensional magic, Kindyglitz etc.

The kit contained:

3 pieces of purple patterned paper
1 sheet of white leather grain card stock
1 packet of square purple rhinestones
1 small length of tape with 'smile' written on it (the writing was purple too).

So, I needed to use the white card as the base but that didn't leave me any for embellishing. My friend Rose-Anne (from Cropworks) doesn't waste anything and had said to me some time ago about cutting the back of a l/o out and putting the card stock to use in the l/o or another l/o.
Method:

I cut the back from the white card stock so I could use it elsewhere in the l/o
I chose 1 of the pieces of pp to be the mat for the rest of the l/o. I tore it, rolled the edges with wet fingers and then ink distressed it with a purple versamark cube.
I then chose another piece of pp and tore around all edges for a smaller mat. I also turned the edges up with wet fingers and ink distressed it too.
I then mounted the photo
The stems were cut from the left over white card using a Sizzix die and my Cuttlebug. I then used Tim Holtz Distress ink to give them that green tinge - I did that by just roughly wiping the ink pad over the leaf surface.
I made the purple flowers from scraps of the pp by punching 2 different sized circles, roughed up the edges of each circle and ink distressed the edges with the green and purple inks, too. I then scrunched them up and re-flattened them and glued them down the side of the page and used a square purple rhinestone in the centres. When I glued the circles together, I did it so they were off centre.
The scalloped flowers were made from punching 3 scalloped circles for each flower. Ink distressed the edges and then really scrunched them up tightly. As I un-scrunched them I glued them together and left the top scallop circle more scrunched than the others in each flower. I used the square purple rhinestones for the centres.
The tape was a challenge :). I decided to use a tiny bit of the tape as an experimental piece and covered it in dimensional magic. (When you do this it needs to lay on one of those non-stick mats, flat). When dried it didn't look too bad so I cut the piece with the 5 dots each end and the word SMILE in the centre and used the dimensional magic on the tape. When it dried I ink distressed the edges and adhered it to the page with 3D foam squares
It still needed something so I used the left over pp and white card stock and punched out 3 butterflies using the Spellbinders dies. The top and bottom butterflies have the white card stock on top and the middle one has it on the bottom. I used purple Kindyglitz to bling them up and attached to the l/o
The journaling I did at home on vellum which I ink distressed as well

The photo is a very old one (must be I'm in it :)). My twin sister is on the left with my paternal Grandmother and I'm on the right with my Dad.

Here is the Bra Purse that Jeanette Osborne made. She made the purse from a bra and sewed all the decorations on by hand. This was auctioned at camp for Breast Cancer. It went for $62. WOW what a great contribution towards such a worthwhile cause.

Cropworks Retreat - The Bra Parade

We had a fantastic time on the weekend with the first Cropworks Retreat. The retreat was to raise funds for Breast Cancer. We raised over $300 and had lots of fun. The theme for the weekend was pink and one of the challenges was to decorate a bra. The slide show below will show you what we came up with. Thei is just a taste of what we got up to and I will post more later in the week.

Ribbon

This chiffon ribbon comes in a few colours. It is very easy to weave through these holes.

Method.

1. On the back of cardstock draw in pencil the circle you wish to weave.

2. Punch holes with a crop-o-dial, eyelet setter, awl etc. Decide how far the gaps are and how long the ribbon showing will be.

3. Weave the ribbon through the holes and secure on the back with double sided tape so the ribbon does not come apart.

These are the flowers I created from the serviettes I used to wipe up the sprays of Glimmer Mist from a workshop I did with Heidi Swapp and the owner of Tattered Angels, Wendy. You know you are addicted to craft when you don't throw away these serviettes and you take from the bin what others have thrown out. The colours are too nice and rich to leave to rot. They are not acid free hence good for cards.
Daphne who owns a photography studio and does photography took these photos of me teaching at a camp I went to in May. Thank you Daphne for the photos. I was teaching a flower making lesson for cards and scrapbooking.

Morriset Crop-layout class

This is one of the classes I carried out last Saturday. You can tell by the photos that we had a good time and lots of laughs. The ladies are so nice at this crop. I am teaching these 2 layouts at Riverstone Crop tomorrow and Morriset Crop next Saturday. They are using Treehouse memories Patterned Paper that can only be purchased from Cropworks in Australia. This is a double sided paper of cardstock thickness.

The flowers have been made using Japanese tissue paper that is acid free and safe for your albums.

The leaves are hand made and painted with the dabbers that Cropworks has a full range.

Wedding Layout

On 15 November 1952 my parents (Kenneth Jack Hill and Cynthia Margaret Frew) were married at Central Baptist Church in Sydney.
I've used 2 paper doilies from Paper Inklings and I chalked the smaller one and then sprayed with Glimmer Mist over the chalked area. The title was painted with Tim Holtz Dabber Paint in Celery and then I have used Dimensional Magic on it. Can't remember about the flowers but thought they were lovely.

Melanie and I take the shop to the crop and while Melanie is working the shop I am doing lessons. I begin with the kids class from 10 until 12 noon. Then the adults page layout class and then the mini album class. This is a wonderful crop and well organised and the food is always yummy.

Cropworks camp at Long Point

This shows the hall where we will be scrapbooking. However, there will be tables and chairs there to scrap and card make. You can see it is a nice big hall with plenty of space and you will not be crowded.
In October it might be warm enough to go for a swim. There is also a sauna there if you want to feel relaxed.

These are some of the cabins but they are limited to how many we use. Most of the ladies will be in the dormitory where there is a shower and toilet block.

Tim Holtz Tonic Paper Distresser

This is a fantastic tool and can make any project look different and unique.

VersaMark Dazzle and Paper Distresser

This Holly was made using a cheap foam stamp and a VersaMark Dazzle, Champagne ink pad.

The Holly stamp was inked up with Champagne and stamped onto green cardstock.

The image was allowed to dry and then cut out with a fine, sharp pair of scissors.

The berries are Kaisercraft Pearls and the veins were done using Chrystallina Kindy Glitz.

Notice the distressed paper . It was done using a Tim Holtz Paper Distresser.

This is just a simple card I made the other day using one of my favourite papers from Treehouse Memories.

I have also used cardstock from SALT and the Fiskars slimline punch. these punches are so good. They are so easy to use also.

I used a Crafter's Workshop stencil for the sentiment and a Fiskars brad for the star.

We had a fabulous day at Riverstone Community Church Crop. We also had a successful day of fundraising for them. As usual the food was terrific and Melanie outshone herself. This photo shows Melanie with the morning tea.

Make & Take - Amie and I

This is a make and take I did at a crop yesterday. The crop was to raise funds for Riverstone Community Church Playgroup and was just fantastic. For $20 we got a 10 hour crop, afternoon tea (fresh homemade scones, chocolate fudge slice, homemade carrot cake, cheese and biscuits and a fruit platter), dinner (choice 0f 3 mains with baked vegetables and garlic bread plus dessert which was a choice of 6 items or you could have a taster plate with 4 small portions of different desserts) plus tea and coffee. It was great and Mel Rae did a fantastic job of catering, organising and running the event - Thanks Mel.
Rose-Anne had the mobile Cropworks Shop there as well and conducted this make and take class. It needs a title but I want to do a second page to go with it so I'll wait until I have done that page and then decide on a heading and maybe some journaling too.
This layout would also make a great Christmas layout.The patterned cardstock is available ony from Cropworks and the white is sort of a bumpy texture and really beautiful to work with. It's from Salt. All items are available from Rose-Anne at Cropworks.

Breast Cancer Crop

It was Liana's birthday and Maree bought her a cake. Don't you love the surprised look on Liana's face?

Last weekend we had our monthly crop and we did some raffles for Breast Cancer. So far we have raised $189 from the raffles. Jessica my granddaughter had a lovely time making her mini album with me.

We had to wear pink and if we didn't we were fined.

Breast Cancer Fundraiser Crop 16-17th October

Breast Cancer Australia

The Crop at Beaumont Hills Primary School on the 16-17th October will have activities to raise money for Breast Cancer. Breast Cancer is in my family and I have just made an appointment to have a yearly mammogram. It is important to support this very worthwhile cause because 1 in 11 women will develop breast cancer before the age of 75.

If you would like to come to this crop either on the Friday all day or the Friday night or the all day Saturday Crop or a combination of several then please e-mail me - roseannemon@yahoo.com to secure a place.

$15 for each session but a combination of sessions is $25.

Friday Lunch is bring a plate and we will share.

Saturday Lunch is also bring a plate and we will share.

All morning, afternoon teas, supper and tea and coffee will be provided by me.

There will be a scrapbooking lesson on each occasion, a card design and a technique for each session. All sessions will have different lessons.

A gold coin donation will be required if you don't have something pink on your body.

There will also be some fun activities to join in if you want to.

Please come and bring a friend and support this worthwhile cause.

10% of all sales this weekend will go to Breast Cancer Awareness.

The camp last weekend was great. Melanie and I had a great time in the shop meeting new lovely ladies and catching up with ones who come every year. This year Saturday night was a purple night and Libby and Glenda got all these cool things for us to wear and they also decorated our table.
